What is Karthigai?
Karthigai is the eighth month of the Tamil calendar. Karthigai Masam starts on November 17 and ends on December 15. This month is named after the Tamil star Krithiga. According to Tamil beliefs, Karthigai Masam is the favorite month of Lord Murugan, Lord Shiva, and Lord Vishnu. There are so many important festivals celebrated this month.
There is a tradition of Shiva pooja every Monday of the month, Karthigai. The day when the Tamil star Bharani falls during the Karthigai Masam, this auspicious day is celebrated as Bharani Deepam.
